The first step in training security staff is a realistic plan. You might have a great plan in mind, but in order to achieve success, you need a budget to match. The costs of any relevant courses, training activities and or exercises must be tailored for each individual job.

Once the budget has been agreed and is out of mind, set out your work plan. Ask yourself what you want to accomplish with your training and how you are going to go about achieving it; Do you need a venue? Is there a deadline? Are your trainees all on the same level of learning? Make sure you keep on track by including key events in your plan such as meetings and training events.

All Veritech Security Guards will be put through various courses, making sure it’s relevant for the job in hand.

If applicable to your training, ensure your trainees are ready for the process of applying for an SIA licence. Do they have the documents required? Are they prepared for their background checks? Do they have the right to work in the UK? If you or your trainees are concerned about the application process, point them in the direction of sia.homeoffice.gov.uk to help them get the information they require.

Now, the training. Train your staff using the training plan you have perfectly tailored to your company. It could be worth conducting realistic simulations of situations your new staff could find themselves in, to allow you to gage how they may react under stress or in a potentially dangerous situation. Make note of when things go wrong so you are able to learn from the experiences.

Once the training is complete, take time to reflect on how things went. Continuous improvement can be made from each training session you do, allowing the company and its employees to positively grow.

Opting for manned guarding from your security company offers a number of benefits for your company. Security Guarding offers a greater level of security than CCTV cameras alone, as well as other un-manned/remote security options. Manned guarding allows your security company to protect your business’ premises against vandalism, theft, damage and unauthorised access. The human presence also protects staff and individuals against potential assault and injury from unauthorised persons.

security company manned guarding

The type of manned guarding you ask for from a security company will depend on what type of business you’re running. Retail outlets, pubs and cafés, for example, might require a customer-facing security presence to ensure that your staff are kept safe and that nothing is stolen. This differs from a construction site, which may require security guards to patrol at night to ensure that nothing is stolen or damaged. Regardless of the type of guarding you require, manned guarding provides a great benefit to businesses and organisations of all types.

A Security Company’s Guards Will Be Trained in De-Escalation

A security company will train guards to spot a potentially troubling situation before it really has time to escalate. This is why it’s best to pick a security company that’s local to the area; if your business premises are in Southampton, for example, it’s best to pick a security company also based in Southampton as their guards will have a great wealth of knowledge about the local area and which spots are prime for trouble. They will also be able to advise you about any additional security measures you should opt for in order to keep your property adequately protected. A local security company will also be able to get to you at short notice.

Increases in Security

It almost goes without saying that manned guarding at your place of business will tighten up security significantly. The human presence at the location will deter potential vandals and thieves from trespassing on your property. It will also improve the security of the surrounding area as well; criminals are much less likely to engage in illegal activity in an area with a known security presence. What works for your business will also benefit the entire area you’re based in.

Random Visits Deter Criminals

To build on the previous point, manned guarding can either be a permanent arrangement or take place at random times. Random timing is beneficial for your business as criminals won’t be able to keep track of the security schedule and move in at a time that they know the location will be unguarded. Ultimately, you will need to discuss with the security company and work out what kind of security presence is necessary for your business.

Security Survey from your Security Company

When you opt for manned guarding, a good security company will carry out a complete site security survey to ensure that there aren’t glaring holes in your site’s security. You can ensure that they give you a list of scheduled visits and tasks so that you know exactly what’s included. If you’re interested in opting for manned guarding or would like more information about any other methods of security, get in touch today! A construction site alarm system is essential for preventing trespassers or vandals from damaging your property and delaying the completion of your project. Often these alarm systems are wireless and offer advanced features in order to allow for the deterring, alarming and response against criminals. Let’s take a look at some of the benefits of construction site security systems.

Deter with a construction site alarm system

First and foremostly, an alarm system for your construction site acts as a great deterrent for vandals and trespassers. Trespassers, vandals or thieves can set your project back considerably. An alarm system in plain sight allows you to deter criminals from entering your property in the first place.

As many alarm systems are battery powered, they resist being tampered with by would-be criminals. This also means that even if the electricity and phone lines are turned off on the site, the alarm system will still sound.

When the alarm does sound, signals will be sent to Veritech, the keyholder, and the site owner. These alarms are often silent to not disturb neighbours and also the criminals before they can be caught.

A wireless alarm system is easily coupled with a CCTV system and other professional monitoring solutions, to ensure a quick presence on-site from security guards or police. It also means that your security solutions are operational 24 hours a day, so no matter when your construction site’s security is compromised, your security company will be taking care of it.

CCTV Vs Security Guards: What is Best for Your Business?

Currently, Southampton’s CCTV centre is staffed 24/7 all year around. It has over 300 cameras, covering car parks and public spaces in the city and surrounding districts. It is estimated that Police review an average of 100 CCTV videos a month. Currently, there are between 4 million and 5.9 million CCTV surveillance cameras in the UK according to a report from the British Security Industry Association (BSIA). Over three years ago there was 1 surveillance camera for every 11 people in Britain. A few years before that it was 1 for every 32 people. That’s an increase of over 70% in only two years. The rising trends suggest it could be 1 camera for every person by now.

Human security guards can protect your business

Yet crime is still a serious problem everywhere you look. With even more government cuts to come, CCTV is becoming even more crucial. However, you still need the security staff to monitor the cameras and intervene when crime strikes. If you are a small business owner and barely have the staff to do the admin, you can’t expect them to do everything. You certainly can’t expect them to challenge intruders or confront criminals. Did you know that 85% of Hampshire county alone is rural? It’s also an easy target for a recent rise in crime. So how do you protect your business out in the British countryside with little to no CCTV? ITV news reported only last month that Police suggest a lack of CCTV in rural areas makes it difficult to prevent crime. You can protect your business in other ways to guarantee the security of your business such as Mobile Patrols or even a regular security guards where necessary. Think about having personalised security services at your disposal. Regular patrols of your property are still one of the most effective techniques in the security industry.

So what is better for your business? CCTV cameras or security guards on patrol?

The Top 4 benefits of using security patrol guards

1) Flexibility.

Every business requires a professional security service that can offer both a flexible and robust service. This meets the needs of your own unique business circumstances. Think about enquiring into tailored security solutions best suited for your business site or property.

2) Regular surveillance

With patrols from every hour at least one of our security guards can provide an ongoing human response. Often it is manned security intervention that can make the difference between CCTV recorded incidents and theft.

3) Constant attention

During a fully manned human patrol, you can be assured of undedicated attention during important visits. Watching live CCTV as incidents happen is no substitute for proactive, trained and experienced human security guard interaction

4) Securing the perimeter

You often hear the phrase but it’s one of the oldest and most successful military manoeuvres. Guarding the perimeter of your premises with human surveillance is always the quickest way to cover wide locations for the possibility of pursuit. Decent perimeter security will be checked and maintained by a human presence during vacant hours in case anyone is watching. This keeps the window open to prevent any unsuspected criminal strikes. More often than not it’s the most experienced security guards that invoke this tactic as well. There is simply no replacement for human experience in the security industry.
