Welcome to the March 2019 edition of the Veritech Systems Newsletter. Every year is exceptional and very different in the life of the company and the year 2018 has produced a staggering 30% increase in turnover.

Once again the directors Paul and Stuart would like to send a huge thank you to all of our clients for their loyalty and our staff including our security officers for their commitment and hardworking efforts during 2018 and this current year.

We have been an incredibly busy company over the last few months and have happily settled into our new state of the art offices and associated areas.

We invested in the business, the team and the future, carefully designed to maximise the full potential of our new freehold property.

We invested in the best form of communication with an entire fibre optic pole giving us around 100 mb up and 100 mb down. The monitoring of our clients has improved 100% giving us superfast capabilities.

The parking facilities will never be an issue anymore as we have scope to expand should the need arise. The security at the new offices is covered by over 25 cameras, various perimeter beams and internal PIR’s and a complete wireless fire alarm system. These systems are the same to what we provide to our clients.

It is with personal regret but warm wishes that I announce the retirement of Geoff Hyman, effective 26^th April. Geoff’s leaving marks the end of an era for Veritech Systems Ltd. He was the first person to see the company achieve its success from the beginning and has been an incredible asset throughout his journey. We are indebted to his vision and commitment for propelling us to our present position in the industry. His work has assured our success into the next century.

We will honor Geoff contributions in a farewell drink to be held work on 26^th April, location to be advised. We invite all employees to extend their good wishes to Geoff in his new endeavors.

     ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre)

Veritech are undergoing a feasibility study with the vision to become ARC approved and to incorporate the brand-new state of the art control centre to be a fully ARC compliant.

This will be an incredible achievement for the whole team and really demonstrates our ambition to grow and be the best we can be and to lead by example as we always aim to.

A lot of time, effort and commitment is involved in the back office in preparation for the installation of various steel and concrete structure protection systems.

ARC’s are:

• Filter out false alarms before alerting the relevant emergency service.
• ARCs provide reassurance that intruder and fire alarms are monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
• Activation signals are sent to a monitoring centre, where they are filtered for false activations that are neither crime related or caused by genuine intrusions or fires.
• In the event of a confirmed signal the police or other relevant emergency services or client contracted security provider will be contacted on your behalf. ARCs also monitor CCTV systems.

Services provided: CCTV monitoring control centre, CCTV installers, security operatives, mobile patrol officers, perimeter protection systems, keyholding, access control, vacant property protection, commercial alarms, home alarms, vehicle escort services, banksmen, fire warden and first aid trained officers.

European Data Regulations GDPR

 

The new GDPR European Data Regulations came into in force in May 2018. Veritech has a GDPR statement and this is located on the employee notice board. Stuart Wright and Jon Mitchell manage this part of the business so any questions please ask them direct.

 

 

Security Officer Nominated for best performance!

The Veritech Systems officer of this quarter has been nominated: Yes, it is you: Lydia Puckett who was adjudged by her peers to be a thoroughly dependable and professional who can always be relied upon to carry out her duties diligently with excellent detail and have the best interest at heart of the client and Veritech Systems at all times. Well Done Lydia!

You stepped up to the mark, went over and above your duties and responsibilities confidently and professionally. Your reward will arrive shortly.

 

A few mentions from Paul Oldridge

 

Firstly, congratulations to Lydia for recognition of outstanding work, commitment and true professionalism.

Brexit is ever looming and as you can probably tell, very confusing from the start. We invested $10,000 USD into our dollar account in preparation for any exchange rate anomalies.

What does Brexit mean?

It is a word that is used as a shorthand way of saying the UK leaving the EU – merging the words Britain and exit to get Brexit, in the same way as a possible Greek exit from the euro was dubbed Grexit in the past.

Why is Britain leaving the European Union?

A referendum – a vote in which everyone (or nearly everyone) of voting age can take part – was held on Thursday 23 June, 2016, to decide whether the UK should leave or remain in the European Union. Leave won by 51.9% to 48.1%. The referendum turnout was 71.8%, with more than 30 million people voting.

Health & Safety Corner – Stuart Wright

Helping Out, we often get asked to do little jobs around the sites by the client or the client’s customer, and in the main this is OK “but”, and as usual there is a “but”, we should be aware that some “little jobs” need to have been properly assessed and that training or induction is given where appropriate.

This does not mean we cannot do other tasks, particularly if they are similar to that which you would do in normal domestic situations. An example would be moving a couple of chairs from one room to another or carry a small parcel to another part of the site. However, if you are asked to accompany someone onto a roof area or into an inspection pit, or do any other physical task, then this should not be carried out unless the appropriate assessment, induction and any equipment needed is organized prior to the work being undertaken.

If you have any doubts contact the SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) Manager Stuart Wright at Head Office. If a task is not included in your Assignment Instructions then you are advised to check with your line manager prior to undertaking it. This protects you, the company and the client from problems if something goes wrong. PPE the wearing of PPE has again become an issue. Some Officers for some reason appear to think that wearing PPE is an optional choice but it most certainly is not. PPE must be worn for ALL the tasks it is issued for as failing to wear any part of the PPE is an offence under the regulations as well as a disciplinary matter.

Response Officers who travel to a number of different sites must remember to carry all their PPE wherever they go so that they can carry out the work they have been assigned to do safely. Environment As we now have nicer weather and there is a need to have air conditioning units or cooling fans working in our workspaces, then please remember to switch them off at the end of the day so that we do not use more power than we need to.

As always we must try and follow our client’s environmental procedures wherever possible. Waste management such as recycling paper or making sure we shut off building lights as soon as we can after part of the building is vacated are ways that we can help improve our environmental performance across our client base.
